Stevie Jones & Mark Gill are a well established acoustic duo who have steadily built up a reputation across the East Midlands as a solid live act. Stevie's lyrics and powerful vocals cut straight from the heart, whilst Mark's' guitar skills are second to none.
Whilst their main drive is playing their own material and songwriting they also host a number of successful open mics and showcases, and Stevie also promotes regular gigs in Leicester at The Musician. As a duo or trio (with Sean Clutterham on harmonica) they regularly play popular covers gigs with a set list that can suit just about any occasion but never strays from their influences - with songs taken from Dylan, Van Morrison, Neil Young Ryan Adams, Rock, Pop, Blues and Country from 70s to present day. Last year they performed at Summer Sundae festival at Leicesters' De Montford Hall and Gardens which also featured Mumford and Sons, David Ford, Eliza Doolittle etc - but this time they played as full band - Stevie Jones & The Wildfires - with a rocking set on the Saturday afternoon. The line up also featured Andy Griffiths (bass/vocals) and Joe Burton (drums) and you can check out their festival warm up show in full here |

Stevie’s roots were laid down busking and playing floor spots at folk clubs in his native Northants. In the 90s he lived for two years in Germany, extensively gigging and spent time in Dublin, playing on the city’s fibrant open mic scene - experiences which have provided him with a wealth of influences and inspiration. After meeting up at a local acoustic night for the last 8 years been joined on stage by the awesome guitar skills of Mark Gill. The duo have gigged wherever they can and have supported the likes of Nick Harper, Ian Mc Nabb, Slaid Cleaves and Chris Helme, plus slots at Leicesters’ top festivals Big Session and Summer Sundae. Stevies' 2005 debut album, ‘New Life’ received good reviews and positive press/radio coverage, with the track 'Million Miles' voted to number two in The Weekender BBC Radio Northampton listeners' chart. An all-acoustic download only album 'Weather The Storm followed and in 2009 the live album/DVD 'LIve At The Musician'' was given 4 stars by Maverick Music Magazine. Mark has since released an instrumental album which has been selling well at gigs. To preview their recordings and purchases please check out The Shop.
Whether it be solo, duo, trio or full band gigs and further releases on their own label (Ditch Monkey Records,) Stevie Jones and The Wildfires are up for another busy year ahead. |
